The office of
Orthopaedic Surgeons of L.I., Assoc. is comprised of board-certified orthopaedic
surgeons, as well as licensed physical therapists,
therapy assistants and a sports trainer.
As specialists in orthopaedic surgery, Drs. Lustrin, D'Ambrosio, Light, and Watnik are all attending staff physicians with hospital privileges at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital (Manhasset), Winthrop University Hospital and the Day-Op Ambulatory Surgery Center.
Irving Lustrin, M.D., F.A.C.S., (retired) graduated from the Kings County Hospital Orthopaedic Residency Program in 1968. He was granted certification by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1970. Dr. Lustrin remains an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and New York Academy of Medicine. He is also a member of several scientific and clinical medical societies. With the practice's initial concept and ongoing development, Dr. Lustrin remains an active physician in the office of Orthopaedic Surgeons of L.I., Assoc. His particular interests include office-based orthopaedic practice, second opinion consultation, and arthritis of the hip and knee.
Philip D'Ambrosio, M.D., F.A.C.S., graduated from the Long Island Jewish Medical Center Orthopaedic Residency in 1980. The following year, he received additional fellowship training at the Boston Children's Hospital Medical Center in pediatric orthopaedics and scoliosis. Dr. D'Ambrosio was certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1984 and became a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1986, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 1989. His interests include all facets of orthopaedic sports medicine and surgery, as well as pediatric and adult orthopaedic surgery.
Ronald Light, M.D., F.A.C.S., graduated from the Long Island Jewish Medical Center Orthopaedic Residency in 1985. He received fellowship training in Orthopaedic Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery at The Hospital for Joint Diseases - Orthopaedic Institute, New York, in 1986. Dr. Light became certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1988, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 1990. He is an active member of several state and county medical societies, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Light's particular interests include complex fracture repair and reconstruction, total joint arthroplasty, as well as pediatric and adult orthopaedic surgery.
Neil Watnik, M.D., F.A.C.S., graduated from State University of New York Health Sciences Center, Brooklyn Orthopaedic Residency in 1991. He continued his training in a sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery fellowship at the Hospital for Joint Diseases - Orthopaedic Institute. Dr. Watnik was certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1994, and has been a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons since 2002. Dr. Watnik's interests include adult and pediatric trauma, as well as sports medicine and surgery. He is a team physician for the Long Island Ducks baseball and the Long Island Rough Riders soccer teams.
Brooke Darby, M.P.T., our principal full-time therapist, graduated from the University of Delaware, receiving her Masters in Physical Therapy in 2003. Her primary interests focus on orthopaedic and sports-related modalities and therapeutic care.
